Hyaluronic acid: the moisture booster for beautiful skin

Hyaluronic acid: the moisture booster for beautiful skin

What is hyaluronic acid anyway?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural product. Hyaluronic acid is present throughout the body and more than 50 percent is in the skin. The moisture magnet is produced by the connective tissue cells and has a special property: hyaluronic acid supports elastine and collagen fibers and plumps up the skin from the inside.

How is hyaluronic acid made?

It was not so long ago that hyaluronic acid was obtained from cockscombs. However, since it triggered allergic reactions in humans and there was a risk of transmitting pathogens, a new source of hyaluronic acid was needed, so a biochemical process was developed in the late 90s that now enables the proteins from yeast to be fermented. The process is complex because the hyaluronic acid goes through several filter processes. In contrast to animal hyaluronic acid, it is much purer and better tolerated.

Where is hyaluronic acid used?

Hyaluron is not only used as a wrinkle filler in cosmetics or aesthetic surgery, but also in medicine. Strictly speaking, the cosmetics industry took advantage of hyaluron in the first place because of the medical successes that were achieved through hyaluron treatments. The following diseases can be treated with it:

  • Arthrose
  • Dry eyes
  • Dry nasal mucosa
  • Lung diseases
  • Wound care
  • Scar

Hyaluronic acid for firm skin?

Hyaluronic acid can bind up to 6.000 times more water than its own weight, so it fights wrinkles naturally. From the age of 25, the hyaluronic acid depots slowly empty. The body's own production can no longer keep up and the elasticity of the skin deteriorates. This makes it more susceptible to UV rays, free radicals and external influences such as nicotine. Targeted skin care with hyaluronic acid or the use of hyaluronic acid fillers can counteract the aging process. The result: the skin can regenerate and wrinkles are fought.

Hyaluronic acid on dry skin

In most cases, signs of dry skin are not due to insufficient fluid intake, as is often suspected, but to an insufficient "hyaluronic acid level". Because without hyaluronic acid, moisture cannot be absorbed and stored. You can supply your skin with the required hyaluronic acid, for example by applying hyaluronic acid creams. It is best to apply the care products daily in the morning and evening after cleaning your face with circular movements to achieve a lasting effect.
